Woodplay, a leader in playset safety
|
 |
|
Woodplay has always been the leader in developing innovative redwood playsets for families. Many of our design features like the Angle Base playset and Notched Angle Braces have gone on to become industry standards. Three decades of playset design and manufacturing delivers a wealth of experience for you. We put that experience to good use by continually enhancing our design and safety features. This commitment to innovation is seen today in Woodplay exclusive features that no other manufacturer offers, like our Non-Slip Flat Steel Safety Rungs and Adjustable A-Frame Construction. Take a look at our design features and you'll see why Woodplay is the ORIGINAL Redwood Playset Company.
Ensuring that your children play in a safe environment is only part of playground safety. Woodplay also recommends an annual playset safety inspection.

Strongest Joints. Woodplay brings the industry's strongest joints to reinforce structural strength and prevent wear and tear. Our unique three-way interlocking system features triple-bolted joints and more through-bolts.
|

|
Bigger Beams. We begin with hand-selected, premium timbers that are "free of heart center" (absent the soft core in the middle of the log). This promotes stability and prevents warping, twisting or cracking. We mill our timbers right in our factory to ensure we have the biggest and strongest beams available. Our lumber measures up to true construction grade. We never "whittle down."
|

|
Swingier Swings. Woodplay's standard swingbeams are 4 to 8 inches taller than others for greater swing travel and more high-flying fun.

Playground Safety Tips:
Remember it is all about SAFE FUN
- Supervise: 40% of playground accidents are a result of inadequate adult supervision. Look for hazards, watch children playing, and assist if an injury occurs.
- Age-Appropriate Equipment: Equipment for children age 5 and up is not suitable for younger children. Be aware of your child's abilities.
- Free of Hazards: Make sure your play area (public or private) is free of obstacles like toys or trash. Plan enough space for swings. Don't get too close to landscaping.
- Examine your playset: Check your playset every few months to ensure that hardware is secure and surfaces are smooth. Openings should be less than 3.5", or greater than 9", to avoid potential entrapment.
- Falls are cushioned: Falling to the ground accounts for almost 70% of playground injuries. Make sure you have the proper surfacing materials at the proper depth to cushion falls.
- Understand the Rules: Review your safety rules and good playground behavior with your children. Have them alert you to other children that are playing in an unsafe or dangerous manner.
- Never wear a hooded shirt: Hooded sweatshirts or shirts with strings are extremely dangerous around playsets. Be especially careful when dressing your children in cooler weather to avoid clothes that make pose a strangulation risk.
Playset Safety Inspection
A few weeks after installation, at the beginning of each usage season, and every two weeks during the season, we recommend that you perform a safety inspection. This inspection should include:
- Check all nuts and bolts and tighten as needed.
- Inspect all swing hangers for wear and tightening if needed.
- Inspect all plastic, rope, and wood components for wear or damage.
- Replace any damaged components immediately. Contact us for replacements.
